About the NAI

The NAI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit member organization comprising U.S. and international universities, and governmental and non-profit research institutions, with over 3,000 individual inventor members and Fellows spanning more than 200 institutions, and growing rapidly. It was founded in 2010 to recognize and encourage inventors with patents issued from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, enhance the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encourage the disclosure of intellectual property, educate and mentor innovative students, and translate the inventions of its members to benefit society. About The Conference


The NAI Annual Conference is held each spring and features stimulating presentations and networking with renowned inventors from across the U.S. and around the world. The meeting serves as an arena where innovation and entrepreneurship in the academic world, leading to local and national economic development is recognized, honored and cultivated.

The 2017 focus is Recognizing Pillars of Academic Innovation. During the three days of events we will be discussing issues related to public policy and industry partnerships, highlighting NAI Fellows and entrepreneurial faculty, and best practices in mentoring the next generation of academic innovators.

Fellows Induction Ceremony & Gala

The Fellows Induction Ceremony and Gala will be held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum on April 6, 2017.

The Library is dedicated to the memory of our nation's thirty-fifth president and to all those who seek a new and better world. Located on a ten-acre park, overlooking the sea, the Library stands as a vibrant tribute and is the perfect setting to honor the newly elected NAI Fellows.

The event will feature the NAI Fellows Induction Ceremony and Gala, including a keynote address by U.S. Commissioner for Patents, Andrew H. Hirshfeld.
